Michigan’s Lemon Law is designed to protect consumers who purchase new motor vehicles that turn out to be defective. According to MCL 257.1401(f), the term “motor vehicle” is strictly defined to include passenger vehicles and sport utility vehicles, but it explicitly excludes motorcycles, ATVs, motor homes, buses, trucks other than pickup trucks or vans, and any vehicle designed to travel on less than four wheels. This leaves owners of motorcycles and ATVs searching for other legal avenues when dealing with a defective product.
